Kanye West has returned to the top of the Billboard 200 rankings with Donda, his eleventh solo album. It’s the biggest sales week of 2021 right now.
Donda sold 309,000 equivalent album units in its first week, with 37,000 of those coming from traditional album sales. 272,000 SEA units correspond to 357.39 million streams of its 27 tracks on demand.
Donda is Kanye’s tenth number one solo album. Late Registration (2005), Graduation (2007), 808s & Heartbreaks (2008), My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010), Watch The Throne (2011), Yeezus (2013), The Life Of Pablo (2016), Ye (2018), and Jesus Is King (2017) were his previous albums (2019).
Kanye is now one of only seven artists in Billboard history to have a total of ten No. 1 singles. He joins the ranks of The Beatles (19), JAY-Z (14), Bruce Springsteen (11), Barbra Streisand (11), Eminem (10) and Elvis Presley (10) as well as West.
Donda was ultimately released on Sunday, August 29th, after numerous delays and a tumultuous rollout. JAY-Z, The Weeknd, KiD CuDi, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Young Thug, Jay Electronica, The Lox, Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine, and others collaborate on the 27-track album.
