Cardi B short description brief bio

Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, better known by her stage name Cardi B, is a rapper and TV personality noted for her pleasant demeanor. She was born on October 11, 1992, in The Bronx, New York, and raised there. She starred on the TV show Love & Hip Hop from 2015 to 2017, when she secured a position after becoming famous on the internet for her personality and stripping attempts. Following her departure from the show, she found success in music with the number-one summer hit “Bodak Yellow.” Offset, a member of the Migos, is her husband. Kulture Kiari Cephus, Offset’s fourth child and Cardi’s first, was born to the couple.

Cardi B began her music career in 2015, and between then and January 2017, she released two episodes of her Gangsta Bitch Music mixtape series. The tapes went unnoticed for a while, but they grabbed the attention of Atlantic Records, which signed Cardi in February of 2017.

Cardi B quickly established herself in the popular music world with the release of her hit track “Bodak Yellow” on June 16, 2017. The song debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, marking the first time a female rapper had done so since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1999. On February 28, 2018, the RIAA awarded “Bodak Yellow” a 5x Multi-Platinum certification for selling 5 million units in the United States.

After the two were often seen together in early 2017, rumors of a romance between Cardi B and Offset began to circulate. Offset proposed to Cardi on stage at a Philadelphia event on October 29, 2017. They’ve worked together on “Lick,” Cardi’s most popular song at one point, as well as Migos’ “MotorSport,” “Um Yea,” and “Drip.”

Cardi B released the follow-up single “Bartier Cardi” featuring 21 Savage just in time for Christmas, following her engagement and the popularity of “Bodak Yellow.” Cardi then went on to collaborate with G-Eazy and A$AP Rocky on the multi-platinum singles “No Limit” and “Finesse (Remix)” with Bruno Mars. Invasion of Privacy, Cardi B’s debut album, was released on April 6, 2018.

Cardi B joined The Beatles and Ashanti as the third artist (and first rapper) to have her first three Billboard Hot 100 entries (“Bodak Yellow,” “No Limit,” and “MotorSport”) in the top 10 at the same time on January 2nd, 2018.

She also made history by becoming the first female rapper to have four #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.
